Fall has finally arrived and this is the October Edition of our Parent Newsletter. In this edition of the newsletter, you will read about our upcoming Fall events including After School's Halloween Talent Show, Preschool's Halloween Celebrations, and more. 

After School October Spirit Day!
After School's Spirit Day will be on Friday, October 9th! Celebrate Mix & Match Day on Friday, October 9th. Dress your craziest in mismatched clothing, backward shirts, clashing socks, wild colors, mixed patterns, whatever you can think of!

Brightwheel
Brightwheel helps keep you connected with your child's day, attendance, sharing photos, activities, and important updates in real-time such as illnesses, accidents, emergencies, school closures, registration forms, etc. Please be sure to create an account at your earliest convenience.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event
Sierra Preschool Location will be holding a Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event. The event will be on October 30th at 4:30PM. Parents are welcome to attend our annual Halloween event where their children showcase their costumes and trick or treat. You are encouraged to dress up! Please bring your child’s trick or treat bucket and costume the morning of the event. Be sure to label the bucket with your child's name. Teachers will help them change into their costume in the afternoon.

Reading Class Students
Be sure to return the reading folder to school by every Monday. Also, please note there will only be three reading classes in October: the 6th, 12th (Monday), and 13th; we will resume on November 3rd.
 
10/9 Field Trip
Our 3+ year old students will be going on a field trip to Emma Prusch Farm Park. Please drop your child off at the preschool by 9:15 AM. The bus departs at 9:25am. 

• Dress code: Hat, closed toed shoes, Sunshine T-Shirt or golden/yellow T-Shirt, light jacket, apply sunscreen on your child before arriving at school
• Lunch: Pack a cold lunch for your child in a disposable bag and label it with your child’s name. Please do not pack nuts or seeds. 
• What we're doing on the field trip: We'll dive into Emma Prusch's rich history and learn about and explore the many amenities the park has to offer. The tour includes learning about the park’s rich history, learning about our animals, enjoying a fun hay wagon ride, and picking out a pumpkin from our free pumpkin patch. 

10/9 Fall Picnic
Students that opt out of attending the field trip or are under 3 years old will stay at the preschool with teachers and will have a picnic from 11am - 12pm. If your child is staying at school, please pack a disposable cold lunch for them. These children will get to take a complimentary mini pumpkin home.

Tuition
Tuition is due by the 1st of every month. Parents may check their balance online at www.mysunshineschool.com. Please pay the amount owed by the 10th of every month or a late fee of 10% will apply. Please note that a one-time workbook fee was applied to your account for applicable students. Thank you for your cooperation.  

Halloween Talent Show!
Sunshine After School's Annual Halloween Talent Show is returning on Friday, October 16th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm!

We invite students to sign up to perform their special talents. Please sign up with your child's lead teacher or with the following link by Friday, October 9th: Talent Show Sign-up

• For the Halloween Talent Show, students and families are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. Please make sure all costumes are school appropriate!
• In the spirit of Halloween, we will be putting together some treat bags for the students. We would like to ask families to contribute some treats and toys for these goodie bags (candies, chocolate (no nuts), small snack bags, juice boxes, and other small toys). Please bring your contribution to your child's lead teacher by Tuesday, October 13th!
• Talent Show Rehearsal Times - In preparation for the talent show, Sunshine School will have two rehearsal days on Tuesday, October 13th and Thursday, October 15th from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. Parents, please allow your children to stay for the duration of rehearsal to practice for a great show. Thank you for your support!

Please note that costumes and contributions are optional and not required. 

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event
We will be having a Trick-or-Treat event on Friday, October 30th at 3:00pm (TK/Kindergarten) and 3:30pm (1st grade & up). Students will be trick-or-treating at all the Sunshine classrooms and we encourage all students to wear their Halloween costumes during this time. Please bring a Halloween bucket/bag for all their treats!

FAQ
What should my child bring to Sunshine?

• A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE every day.
• Bring SUNBLOCK (labeled with your child's name) everyday. 
• CUP AND BOWL(S) (labeled with your child's name) for lunch and snack (lunch is provided for TK students only. Sunshine wants to go green! Help us in our efforts to become less wasteful!
• In addition to these items, TK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students will need to bring ONE CHANGE OF CLOTHES for emergencies.
