We hope everyone was able to have an amazing start of the school year! This is the September Edition of our Newsletter. Below you will find some helpful reminders and information to help your month go by smoothly! 

School Holiday
For the month of September, please note that all Sunshine School locations will be CLOSED on Monday, September 7th, 2026 to observe Labor Day.

Last Day for Extracurricular Sign-ups for After School!
The deadline to sign-up for After School extracurricular classes is tomorrow: Tuesday, September 1st. Please submit your registration using the link below. 
A brief description of some of our classes can viewed on our Extracurricular Flyer Brochure.

Ater School Pick-up Changes for Back to School Night at Ruskin 9/3
Sunshine Classrooms for 1st graders and up will be unavailable after 4:30pm on Thursday, September 3rd due to Ruskin's Back to School Night. Families, please pick up your child(ren) by 4:30pm this Thursday. Students not picked up by 4:30pm will be relocated and walked over to the Turlock Classrooms (1363 Turlock Lane, church) for pick-up. TK and Kindergarten pick up times will remain the same. 

After School September Spirit Day!
After School's Spirit Day will be on Friday, September 4th! Celebrate Stuffed Animal Day this Friday, September 4th, by having your child bring their favorite stuffed animal to Sunshine and enjoy a fun, cozy day with their cuddly friend!

Brightwheel helps keep you connected with your child's day, attendance, sharing photos, activities, and important updates in real-time such as illnesses, accidents, emergencies, school closures, etc. Please be sure to create an account at your earliest convenience.

Tuition
Tuition is due by the 1st of every month. Parents may check their balance online at www.mysunshineschool.com. Please pay the amount owed by the 10th of every month or a late fee of 10% will apply. Thank you for your cooperation.  

Kindergarten Schedule Change
The schedule for most BUSD Kindergarten students will change beginning Monday, September 14th. For Kindergarten students from Ruskin and Kindergarten students using our transportation services: Sunshine School will pick-up students at the appropriate time of dismissal for their school.

September 18th After School Program
Sunshine will be OPEN for our After School Program during BUSD's Professional Development Day on Friday, September 18th from 12:30pm to 6:30pm (for TK/Kindergarten) and 2:30pm - 6:30pm (for 1st graders & up). 

Please fill out the following form if your child will be attending the After School Program on this day.

Please note that your child's attendance for this day is optional. You will not be charged any additional fees as it is already included in your September tuition.

September Fall Break
BUSD students will be having their Fall Break from September 28th to October 2nd. Sunshine School will be open for our Full Day Program during this week for families who need care. Parents who wish to sign up, please fill out the Fall Break Full Day Program Registration to reserve your spot, as space is limited.

Sunshine will be open from 8:30am to 6:00pm for this week and will be located at the Turlock Classrooms (1363 Turlock Lane). The rate is $400 for all five days (09/28 to 10/02) or $95 per day. The fee will be added to your September/October tuition. 

Breakfast, lunch, and snack is included.

Please note: This week is not included in your After School tuition. You will not be charged for this week if you do not sign up for our Full Day Program.

Mandarin Immersion Homework Help
Homework help for MI (Mandarin Immersion) students will be starting this week and will be provided every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:30 - 4:30pm. Please see a tentative schedule for each class/grade: 

• 2:30 - 3:00pm K1
• 3:00 - 3:30pm 1st grade
• 3:30 - 4:00pm 2nd grade
• 4:00 - 4:30pm 3rd - 5th grade

FAQ
What should my child bring to Sunshine?

• A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE every day.
• Bring SUNBLOCK (labeled with your child's name) everyday. 
• CUP AND BOWL(S) (labeled with your child's name) for lunch and snack (lunch is provided for TK students only. Sunshine wants to go green! Help us in our efforts to become less wasteful!
• In addition to these items, Kindergarten/1st Grade students will need to bring ONE CHANGE OF CLOTHES to be kept in their cubby at Sunshine.
