This is your Week 3 Newsletter for Sunshine Summer Camp!

We are super excited for Week 3: Disney! For this week, students will be exploring the magical world of Disney and create wonderful crafts and projects inspired by Disney Classics, Stars Wars, and Marvel!

A friendly reminder that we will be closed on Friday, July 3 to observe the Independence Day.

Summer Camp Checklist
If this is your child's first week at the Summer Camp, please be sure the following items are complete before your child's first day:

  • Complete your Summer Required Forms
  • Make your tuition payments before your child's first day at the program
  • Complete your child's Brightwheel profile (emergency info, allergies, authorized pick-up, etc.)

Spirit Day is on Wednesday, July 1st! Celebrate Disney Day by coming to Sunshine dressed as your favorite Disney character or wear attire showcasing anything Disney, Marvel, or Star Wars!

Field Trip

                                                                     

  • For this week, ALL STUDENTS will be going to the Great Mall Theatre on Thursday, July 2nd. Students must arrive at Sunshine School by 8:30am on this day. Students will arrive back to Sunshine School from the field trip around 1:00PM.

    • TK/Kindergarten and 1st Graders will be taking our Charter Bus to the Great Mall Theatre. 

    • 2nd graders and up will be taking a walk to the VTA Hostetter Station to take the train to Great Mall.

      • A VTA class presentation will conducted on Tuesday, June 30th for all students. This fun presentation will educate students about how to safely use VTA service. Students learn about common transportation etiquette, such as the “do's and don'ts” of riding public transportation. Presenters spend additional time teaching older students how to read bus schedules and plan trips. 

  • For this field trip, please remember to pack a lunch for your child and have students wear their Sunshine t-shirt and walking shoes. It is recommended to pack student's lunches in a paper bag so that it is easily disposable. Students who do not wear their Sunshine t-shirt or pack a lunch will not be allowed on the field trip. Also remember to have your children eat breakfast at home on field trip and school event days. 

  • AM/PM PART TIME STUDENTS: Part-time students who wish to participate in the field trip may contact our program director at (408) 839-8366 to check for availability. A $40 fee will be added to your account for part-time students who wish to attend the field trip. Students who do not attend the field trip must still pack a lunch for the day as Sunshine School does not provide lunch on field trip/school event days.

  • Chaperones - Parents who wish to volunteer as a chaperone may submit a request via the Sunshine Office. A negative TB test (within the last four years) is required for all Parent Volunteers.  

  • Field Trip & Event Policy - If a student misbehaves during their field trip or school event, he or she is not allowed to attend the next week's field trip or school event as a consequence.

Soccer Camp
  • Week 3 Soccer Camp: June 29th - July 2nd, 8:30am to 11:30am 
    • Please note that Soccer Camp on Thursday, July 2nd have been rescheduled to 12:45pm - 3:45pm to accommodate the morning Field Trip. 

  • Please make sure to wear sunscreen, sneakers, and bring a hat and water bottle! Also have your child eat breakfast at home before coming to camp.

  • Please drop off your child at the Sunshine Office in Room J4 (located on the Ruskin Campus, 1401 Turlock Lane) daily for Soccer Camp. 

  • The Soccer Camp will be located at the Ruskin Grass Field. Our Sunshine teachers will be walking the students over after check-in. 

  • Students who are attending the Sunshine Summer Program in the PM, will be walked to their classrooms after Soccer Camp.

  • As a friendly reminder, please drop off and pick up your child within your child's registered enrollment time. If a child is dropped off earlier or picked up later than their scheduled time, families shall be assessed a fine of $1.00 per minute for each minute early/late.       

Summer Camp FAQs

Which class should my child(ren) go to?
Sunshine Summer Camp assigns the students into different age groups according to the grade that they are entering in Fall 2026. You may view the roster for Week 3 here: Week 3 Summer Roster

  

  • All grade level classrooms will be located on the Ruskin School Campus this year including TK & Kindergarten.
  • Classes are subject to change depending on weekly enrollment.  
  • Please use the following campus map to find your child's classroom and entrance gate: Campus Map
  • The Sunshine Summer Office will be located in Room J4. Please do not enter or ring the bell of the Ruskin Office. 

Where do I drop off my children in the morning?
On your child's FIRST DAY of the program

  • Please check in your child at the Sunshine Office located in Room J4. Here, we will sign-in your children, pass out name tags and Sunshine t-shirts (if applicable), as well as complete any missing paperwork. If you arrive after 9:30am on the first day, please ring the bell at Gate 6 for entry and assistance. 
  • Please use the following campus map to find your child's classroom and entrance gate: Campus Map 

After your child's first day of the program 

  • Parents may drop their children off directly at the appropriate classroom. 
  • Gates will remain open until 9:30am every morning. If your child arrives after 9:30am, please ring the doorbell at the gate to alert staff of your arrival.
  • Gates will remain closed for the rest of the camp day.  

Please be sure to check-in with a Sunshine teacher when dropping off and picking up your child(ren). 

Does my child have to sign in and sign out when he/she comes to Sunshine?
Our teachers will be signing students in and out everyday through the Brightwheel App. All families should have an active Brightwheel account to check their child's attendance status throughout the day. 

What are the hours and tuition for Summer Camp?

  • Soccer - Week 3 (June 29-July 2) | 8:30am-11:30am
  • Fitness - Week 4 (July 6-10) | 1pm-4pm
  • Fitness - Week 5 (July 13-17) | 1pm-4pm
  • Clay Art - Week 6 (July 20-24) | 1pm-4pm
  • Soccer - Week 8 (August 3-7) | 8:30am-11:30am

What should my child(ren) bring to Summer Camp?
Please be sure to pack the following items for your child(ren) everyday:

  • sunblock and a hat (labeled with your child's name) 
  • a refillable water bottle
  • two sets of bowls and a cup (labeled with your child's name) for breakfast, lunch, and snack time (Sunshine wants to go green! Help us in our efforts to become less wasteful!)
  • a bagged lunch and wear Sunshint t-shirt (on field trip and school event days).
  • TK/Kindergarten & 1st grade students will need to bring one change of clothes to keep at Sunshine in their cubby

What is the lunch menu?
The menu for Week 3 is listed below!

  • Monday: chicken and egg fried rice
  • Tuesday: chicken nuggets with carrots and broccoli
  • Wednesday: pizza (pepperoni and cheese)
  • Thursday: Pack your own lunch! (Field Trip!)
  • Friday: NO SCHOOL

How do I stay updated with news about the Sunshine Summer Camp?
Sunshine School will broadcast frequent newsletters via email and Brightwheel to keep parents updated. Please let your classroom teacher know if you are not able to receive our newsletter. We will also provide announcements and reminders through Brightwheel and on our white board that will be posted by Gate 6. Don't forget to take a look at the white board for daily news when you drop-off/pick-up your child!
