Fall has finally arrived and this is the October Edition of our Parent Newsletter. In this edition of the newsletter, you will read about our upcoming Fall events including After School's Halloween Talent Show, Preschool's Halloween Celebrations, and more. Spots are also still available for After School's Fall Break Full Day Program, please register below to reserve your child's spot. 

Sunshine School's Referral Program!
Sunshine School is proud to present our new Referral Program for current Sunshine School families. This is your chance to spread the word about Sunshine School and earn rewards: when you refer friends and families to us, and they enroll their child(ren) in any of our full-time programs (infant, toddler, preschool, Transitional Kindergarten TK or after school), you'll earn $150 per enrollment, and your friends will receive $100 credit towards their tuition!

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event
Vinci Park and Sierra Preschool Locations will be holding a Halloween Trick-or-Treat Party. The event will be on Monday, October 30th from 10:30am - 11:15am. Come to Sunshine dressed in your Halloween Costumes for a festive day of sweets and fun!

Field Trip: Emma Prusch Farm Park
Vinci Park and Sierra Preschool Locations will be having a field trip to Emma Prusch Farm Park this upcoming month. The time and date for this field trip will be announced to families once details have been confirmed.

Tuition
Tuition is due by the 1st of every month. Parents may check their balance online at www.mysunshineschool.com. Please pay the amount owed by the 10th of every month or a late fee of 10% will apply. Thank you for your cooperation.

• Please note that the week of October 30th to November 3rd is counted towards October's tuition. 

TK Schedule Change
Beginning Monday, October 9th, all TK students will be having lunch at their prospective schools. For students using Sunshine's Transportation/Pick-up Service, please refer to the following pick-up schedule:

• Brooktree Elementary: Monday to Fridays at 12:30pm 
• Ruskin Elementary: Monday to Fridays at 12:50pm
• Vinci Park Elementary: Monday to Fridays at 12:55pm  

Students with After School Enrichment will be picked up at their appropriate dismissal time depending on their schedule. 

October Fall Break Full Day Program
BUSD students will be having their October Fall Break from October 2nd to October 6th. Sunshine School will be open for our Full Day Program during this week for families who need care. Parents who wish to sign up, please fill out the October Fall Break Registration to reserve your spot, as space is limited.

Sunshine will be open from 9:00am to 6:30pm for this week and will be located at the Turlock Classrooms (1363 Turlock Lane). The rate is $400 for all five days (10/2 to 10/6) or $95 per day. The fee will be added to your October tuition.

Please note: This week is not included in your After School tuition. You will not be charged for this week if you do not sign up for our Full Day Program.    

Halloween Talent Show!
Sunshine After School's Annual Halloween Talent Show is finally returning on Friday, October 20th at 5:00 PM!

We invite students to sign up to perform their special talents. Please sign up with your child's lead teacher by Friday, October 13th.

• For the Halloween Talent Show, students and families are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.
• In the spirit of Halloween, we will be putting together some treat bags for the students. We would like to ask families to contribute some treats and toys for these goodie bags (candies, chocolate (no nuts), small snack bags, juice boxes, and other small toys). Please bring your contribution to your child's lead teacher by Friday, October 13th!
• Talent Show Rehearsal Times - In preparation for the talent show, Sunshine School will have two rehearsal days on Tuesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 19th from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. Parents, please allow your children to stay for the duration of rehearsal to practice for a great show. Thank you for your support!

Please note that costumes and contributions are optional and not required.

Below are a list of make-up class dates for rescheduled/cancelled extracurricular classes:

  • October 23rd (for cancelled class on September 15th)
  • October 27th (rescheduled from October 20th)

FAQ
What should my child bring to Sunshine?

• A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE every day.
• Bring SUNBLOCK (labeled with your child's name) everyday. 
• CUP AND BOWL(S) (labeled with your child's name) for lunch and snack (lunch is provided for TK students only) everyday. Sunshine wants to go green! Help us in our efforts to become less wasteful!
• In addition to these items, Kindergarten students will need to bring ONE CHANGE OF CLOTHES to be kept in their cubby at Sunshine.
